It feels like a lifetime ago now that Brendan Rodgers was in the Celtic dugout.
A lot has happened in Scottish football this season. More drama and chaos than ever before, and Celtic have been at the centre of it all.
Probably nothing will top that dramatic Monday evening in October when Rodgers left his role at Celtic and was then verbally battered by Dermot Desmond.
It’s pretty clear that Rodgers riled up a few people in his time, and another individual who seems to be wound up by the Irishman is Simon Jordan.
What do you think is the main reason Wilfried Nancy couldn’t buy a win as Celtic manager? 🤔
The stats are damning…
Brendan Rodgers ‘vindicated’ as Celtic woes continue amid Wilfried Nancy sacking
Speaking on talkSPORT, before Celtic announced Wilfried Nancy’s sacking, Jordan was aiming his own verbal digs at Rodgers.
The former Crystal Palace owner noted Celtic’s start to the 2025/26 campaign, including the failure to secure qualification for the Champions League after getting knocked out over two legs by Kairat Almaty.
Jordan labelled Rodgers as a ‘selfish sod’, and how things seemingly ‘weren’t dreadful’ when he was in the dugout, as matters have, no doubt, become worse by the game.
That’s proven by Nancy being fired, and then Martin O’Neill coming back in for a third spell.
Either way, Jordan thinks that Rodgers will be ‘vindicated’ by everything he said at Celtic, given the current situation at the club.
Jordan: “You have to say, it wasn’t dreadful with Brendan Rodgers. Brendan set it on fire because Brendan is a selfish sod. He is only interested in himself.
“Ultimately, he went out of the door on his terms by setting people on fire, and then Dermot Desmond came in and had his say about it.”
Jim White: “Might he be justified now?”
Jordan: “What? Getting knocked out of the Champions League by a pub side?”
Martin Keown: “He won’t get any pleasure in seeing what’s happening to Celtic.”
Jordan: “He will be vindicated, won’t he? By the things he got away with saying.”
