The tide is changing for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur, and his time in the Premier League could be running out.

Despite Spurs being in the Europa League semi-final, the Celtic hero is getting verbal pelters left, right and centre for his side’s performances in the Premier League.

On Monday night, Tottenham were beaten by Nottingham Forest, which was their 18th defeat in the league, and it leaves them 16th in the table.

Micah Richards can’t seem to fathom what has happened to Postecoglou, despite being a big fan of the 59-year-old before he even stepped foot onto the Premier League stage.

Postecoglou won the Treble at Celtic, winning over the hearts of many fans in Glasgow, not just because of what he won, but also his style of play and the refreshing nature in which he conducted himself in the media.

But Richards thinks all of that is now changing in the colours of Tottenham.

Micah Richards on hearing about Ange Postecoglou before Celtic job

Postecoglou was a huge success in the J-League in Japan, before setting foot in Glasgow, including a huge success at Yokohama F. Marinos.

Richards stated that Celtic legend Chris Sutton told him about Postecoglou, even before he joined Celtic, so he started to ‘study’ the Greek-born Australian, as he told The Rest Is Football.

But now, the former Manchester City defender feels, not only have Tottenham become a ‘shadow’ of themselves on the field of play, but he also thinks the man himself is acting differently in the media.

“What’s going on with Spurs,” asked Richards. “I gave my opinion last week, and the manager is getting involved in press conferences. Not being himself. Biting back, and all that.

“But actually, if you look on the field. Forget off the field, for a moment. They are a shadow of the team that they were.

“I have been a big admirer of Ange for a while now, and that was because of Chris Sutton. This was before he was even at Celtic. Chris talked about him when he was in Japan.

“So, I studied him. I studied his style of play. It was aggressive. It was forward-thinking. It was taking risks. Okay, they take risks when they are conceding goals, but they aren’t finishing their chances.”

Which teams has Postecoglou managed in his career?

With Spurs in the Europa League semi-final, and three games away from winning silverware, something which they haven’t achieved since 2008.

Postecoglou wasn’t shy to tell the people that he wins trophies in his second season. Well, what a way to do it if he does get the London club over the line.

But Postecoglou’s career spans back to 1996 when he coached a semi-professional team in Australia – South Melbourne, and he has done pretty well to make it this far.
