It’s the title race nobody expected in Scotland.

In recent years, Celtic have flown the flag on their own, and previously, before that, Rangers have had a few jabs, including winning that sole title under Steven Gerrard.

But this season, Hearts are, not only proving to be a real threat, but sitting at the top of the Premiership table after eight matches.

Over the weekend, Hearts thrashed Kilmarnock, as Celtic were beaten at Dundee, and it sets up an enthralling encounter at Tynecastle this Sunday.

Derek McInnes’ side could go eight points clear with a win, but even before that scenario could take place, Tam McManus was on the wind-up.

Hearts’ title to throw away after Celtic’s defeat?

You have to bear in mind that McManus is a former Hibernian player, so whilst the majority of Scotland probably want Hearts to win the title.

The other side of Edinburgh certainly doesn’t want to see it.

That’s why, after Celtic lost to Dundee, McManus posted on social media that this title is now Hearts’ to ‘throw away.’

‘Hearts can only throw the league away from this position,’ wrote McManus on social media.

Hearts making the noise after Tony Bloom’s comments

Tony Bloom has had previous success with Union Saint-Gilloise, who won the Belgian league title last season, as well as helping Brighton to Europe.

Before a ball was kicked, Bloom talked the talk about wanting to dethrone Celtic from the top of the table.

Whilst there is still a long way to go, the Hearts players are doing their talking on the pitch.

But come Sunday, Celtic can shut off that noise by doing what they do best, and that’s winning under immense pressure.
