Brendan Rodgers made his feelings clear on Celtic fans singing Kieran Tierney’s name after the Bhoys swept aside St Mirren last weekend.
Citing Greg Taylor’s importance to the Bhoys, Rodgers claimed the chants represented a ‘total lack of respect’ to the long-serving full-back as he moves into the final months of his deal at Parkhead.
The Irishman’s reaction has divided Celtic fans on whether singing about Tierney was the right move as their interest in bringing the Scotland international back to the scene of his former glories grows.

Ultimately, everyone is going to have their opinion on what has snowballed into a multi-faceted topic. Taylor’s uncertain contract situation at Celtic doesn’t help despite his desire to stay on for the remainder of the campaign.
Reviewing events that prompted Rodgers into an uncharacteristically spiky reaction, it is no surprise most pundits have formed their own view on a predicament that has hit national headlines.
Pundit drops clear verdict on Rodgers’ post-match comments
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Craig Moore believes Rodgers delivered an ‘excellent’ reaction by defending Taylor in his post-match press conference. He views the situation purely as a manager backing one of his assets.
On the same token, the pundit maintained that fans were purely singing out of excitement at a hero like Tierney being linked with a Celtic return.
He explained: “I think it was more, he’s an icon, Kieran Tierney, it wasn’t against the guy playing left back just now.
“No, but then like I said, as the games played, Greg Taylor, I’m pretty sure he didn’t feel amazing because that probably is a thought.
“But I’ll tell you what, he’ll feel amazing with the way that the manager has come out and backed him, and I thought that was excellent from Brendan Rodgers. I really, really did.”
Celtic move on to the challenge of facing in-form Dundee Utd
Supporters will draw their own perspective from Rodgers’ comments, but they will soon fade into the abyss as the Bhoys prepare to face Dundee United tomorrow night.
Celtic arrive into the clash with a commanding 13-point lead over Rangers and have the chance to apply further pressure on their rivals as they head to take on Dundee on Thursday evening.

Jim Goodwin’s outfit have climbed to third in the table and look to be a difficult nut to crack, barring a defeat to Heart of Midlothian last weekend, and the Hoops will hope to replicate their exploits against St Mirren to push another three points over the line.
Rodgers’ opinion may have stirred debate among the fanbase, but his only focus will be on ensuring his side move further ahead under the lights.
