Celtic continue their Champions League adventure with a trip to Germany tonight to face Borussia Dortmund at the Westenfallonstadion.

Brendan Rodgers will be hopeful of taking something from Dortmund to continue their progress in the tournament to hopefully take Celtic out of the group stage for the first time since 2013.

Celtic currently sit second in the league to Bayern Munich on goal difference after their impressive 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava on matchday one that left pundits and former players waxing lyrical over Rodgers’ team.

But it seems that the performance may have also left an impression on a ‘guest’ invited by, Darren O’Dea, who was on a scouting mission to cast his eye over two of Celtic’s heroes in that historic win over the Slovakian champions.

John O’Shea keeping tabs on Adam Idah and Liam Scales

O’Dea is currently in Ireland taking part in a football coaching day to help Rathganan FC celebrate their 30th birthday.

And speaking about the Irish players in Celtic’s team, the Player Pathway Manager said he invited John O’Shea to cast his eye over Adam Idah and Liam Scales for the upcoming Republic of Ireland internationals this month.

O’Dea told The Irish Mirror, “The atmosphere was fantastic. The new format is something different, it may benefit Celtic, only time will tell.

“But all the Champions League nights at Celtic are special. I’m lucky that I’m at them all but you don’t take them for granted.

“Every single one you go to, every time, it’s just as special because the noise is surreal, the atmosphere is surreal. And when the result goes well, it adds to it, obviously.

“I actually had John O’Shea up as a guest. He came up to watch the two boys [Idah and Scales]. It was fantastic to see not just one of them but both of them getting on and scoring. Hopefully, he has gone back with a good write-up for the manager.”

Scales and Idah creating an impression

67 Hail Hail already discussed the impression Adam Idah has been making at Celtic since his permanent summer move.

With four goals already to his name, the young striker is already looking like the real deal after his big £9.5m move from Norwich City.

However, Scales seems to have kicked his performances up a notch this season under Brendan Rodgers. The Irishman’s displays have been solid and it seems the addition of Auston Trusty has pushed him on to another level.

A man-of-the-match performance against Bratislava will have sent O’Shea away with a glowing report for Ireland boss, Heimir Hallgrímsson.

The Celtic fans will be hoping that Scales’ level remains the same tonight because if Celtic are to get anything from Dortmund, every single player involved in the game needs to be on their mettle.
