Celtic winger, Liel Abada, is said to be backing training at Lennoxtown this week after Brendan Rodgers dropped the winger for the Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren.

The Israeli winger has been suffering from a drop in form after returning from a thigh injury he obtained when on international duty earlier this season.

Abada was left out of Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren on Sunday with Rodgers citing that Abada wasn’t in the ‘right frame of mind’ due to off-field issues surrounding the player.

But now, it seems, Abada could be close to returning to the Celtic first team after a report claims he is now back in training.

The report from the Daily Record says, “But Record Sport understands the 22-year-old is now back with the Hoops first-team squad at Lennoxtown but it remains to be seen if he will be in the squad for the weekend home clash with Kilmarnock.”

Liel Abada’s importance to Celtic

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the 22-year-old Celtic winger. Linked with a loan move in January, Abada stayed at the club and has struggled to recapture the form that has made him a fan favourite.

Abada has been tipped to leave Celtic in the summer as questions remain on whether or not he can continue his career at the club.

However, Abada knows what he needs to do to get back to the form that helped Celtic to wrestle the title from Rangers two seasons ago.

The fans will be hoping that he can get there because the title race is now closer that it has ever been and having a player like Abada can only increase Celtic’s chances of keeping the Scottish Premiership trophy in the Parkhead trophy cabinet.
