Normally when Fabrizio Romano tweets about a Celtic player being given admiring glances from other clubs, it would set panic in motion for the Celtic fans.
The ‘transfer guru’ has a fairly decent track record in football of being able to predict when players are leaving or when clubs are showing interest in their transfer targets.
And this morning, the Italian journalist tweeted this update about Celtic’s Matt O’Riley.
Celtic fans should be happy with this update, not fearful
Look, I get it. I understand why the fans would be anxious about this tweet.
But for me, there is a positive side to this. And it is fairly obvious.
O’Riley is happy at Celtic. And when a player is happy, he performs.

And that is what we have seen from the midfielder over the last two league games.
O’Riley has found it difficult to break into the Celtic starting eleven recently due to the form of Aaron Mooy and Reo Hatate.
With both players struggling due to injury, O’Riley was given his chance and he has taken it.
A very good performance against Rangers in the Glasgow Derby was followed by a superb display at Kilmarnock where the Danish u21 international bagged a double to help his side cruise to a 4-1 win.

And when a player is performing well in a winning team, then transfer interest happens naturally.
Just because interest is shown, it doesn’t mean that the player is definitely going to leave.
I’m sure plenty of interest has been shown in Callum McGregor over the years, yet, the Celtic captain remained at Parkhead.
I am sure O’Riley will move on at some stage in his career. Goodness knows he is no stranger to transfer interest since joining the club.
Just last August O’Riley himself said he had no plans to leave Celtic and that he was ‘really happy’ at Celtic.
So the fact that his stance hasn’t changed eight months later, is nothing but good news for the Celtic fans.
