The real reason why Lennon Miller wasn’t in the Motherwell squad as Celtic links continue

Celtic continue to be linked with Lennon Miller as fellow clubs circle around the teenage star.

Miller is of interest to teams across Europe and it seems inevitable that the 18-year-old will leave in the summer after the Motherwell manager admitted that they will cash in on Miller.

The rumours suggesting that the midfielder will depart the Scottish Premiership outfit have continued to intensify after he was left out of their Premier Sports Cup clash against Clyde.

Lennon Miller missed Motherwell’s win against Clyde

News of the Scotland star’s absence sparked a frenzy online but any hints claiming that he was left out ahead of a move overseas were soon quashed.

BBC Sport Scotland’s Brian McLaughlin confirmed that the reason why Miller was missing from the penalty shootout win against Clyde was due to injury.

Speaking on Sportsound, McLaughlin said: “My understanding is that Lennon picked up a slight knock in a closed door game against Carlisle and is going to be out for a week to 10 days or so.

“Nothing too serious at all but there IS significant interest in Lennon. USG in Belgium and Como are two clubs who are keeping a very close eye on developments.

“Interestingly enough both of those two clubs use Jamestown Analytics, who Hearts use as well.”

Will Lennon Miller be Celtic’s next signing?

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed more Celtic signings are coming, but neither one of them will be Miller.

Celtic have made six signings already and as it stands, Shin Yamada looks to be the next player to come through the door.

A left-back also seems likely, despite Hayato Inamura’s impressive displays in the role.

Any central midfield incomings don’t seem likely right now, but with over a month of the transfer window to go, anything can happen.
