The transfer window may be closed but that doesn’t stop the chat on who could be the next player to join Celtic in the future.
Just this week 67 Hail Hail discussed the option of bringing players like Welsh international, Ben Cabango to the club with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
We also spoke about three other players in Sem Steijn and Luke Woolfenden who could do a job for Celtic and, of course, Daniel Gazdag who once linked to Celtic as also all being out of contract and who could cost the club nothing.
But on top of Gazdag, there are another three players who were once linked to Celtic who are also out of contract next summer so here, we take a look and see if they could be viable options for Brendan Rodgers to take a look at.
Bayern Munich’s Eric Dier
Eric Dier was linked to Celtic back in August 2023 as the former Spurs man was left out in the cold by Ange Postecoglou.
Once one of Spurs’ top performers Dier quickly found himself fifth in the pecking order as Postecoglou looked to put his own stamp on the London club’s team.
Dier was surprisingly signed by Bayern Munich on loan for a six-month deal and was then signed up permanently on a one-year after meeting the required minimum number of appearances.
Dier made 20 appearances for the Bundesliga side last season and has featured just once in three fixtures this season.
With his contract expiring next summer, could the 49 times capped England international be a viable option for Celtic? I suppose it would depend on the salary demands and whether or not Dier would be open to a move to Scotland at 31.
Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin
Andriy Lunin is a player who was consistently linked to Celtic after Joe Hart announced he was retiring from football in February this year.
In fact, Lunin’s name was first discussed way back in October of last year when he was out in the cold at Real Madrid.
However, a long-term injury to Real’s number one, Thibaut Courtois, threw the Ukrainian international into the La Liga giant’s starting lineup and Lunin helped get them to the Champions League final but was immediately benched when Courtois regained full fitness and never got to play against Borussia Dortmund.
Such was his form, Lunin was reportedly set to be offered a new deal but as yet, he still remains on his current deal which expires next summer.
He has yet to play a single minute for Real Madrid this season and at 25, Lunin will be keen to secure first-team football.
Fenerbache’s Bright Osayi-Samuel
Bright Osayi-Samuel was linked to Celtic in September 2020 but decided to make the move to Turkish Super Liga side, Fenerbache.
Formerly of Queens Park Rangers, the Nigerian international right-back has made 144 appearances in four seasons at the Turkish giants.
Silverware has been a rarity for Osayi-Samuel as he has won just one domestic trophy which was the Turkish Cup back in 2023.

Unfortunately, the 26-year-old is currently out with a muscle injury and had to pull out of the Nigerian international squad during this break.
Predominantly a right full-back, Osayi-Samuel is versatile and has been deployed as a defensive and attacking midfielder, on both sides of the attacking wings and has even been used as a centre-forward throughout his career.
Now nearing the final year of his current contract, could the potential of more silverware and a crack at Champions League football tempt Osayi-Samuel to move to the Scottish champions next summer?
