Celtic and Dundee played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Dens Park on Tuesday night.

Tony Docherty’s team fought back from going behind twice to take the lead late on against Celtic at Dens Park until young Aaron Donnelly put Dundee ahead with just 13 minutes left to play.

The young Dundee defender bullied Celtic centre-back Auston Trusty to nod the ball home and put Docherty’s team in the driving seat.

However, the young Dundee defender’s celebration after scoring against Celtic has certainly caused a ruckus as Docherty reveals what Donnelly’s teammates have done behind the scenes with their reaction to the muted celebration.

Aaron Donnelly ‘absolutely battered’ by Dundee teammates for Celtic goal celebration

Docherty told The Courier, “No, honestly, if anything, he’s been absolutely battered by his team-mates!

“Simon (Murray) couldn’t wait to get in and give him a bit.

“When I watch it back as well I do think there is an element of him not knowing what to do when he scores his first goal.

“But the boys are hammering him, which is great. There’s nothing in it, absolutely nothing in it, you couldn’t look at it in a negative way or anything like that.

“He’s a young kid, he’s come on and what a baptism.

“Aaron has come up and in his first two games, he plays really well in a 1-1 against Rangers and then plays really well and scores what we thought was going to be the winner against Celtic.

“He’s getting a ribbing from his mates, and quite rightly so.”

Why Aaron Donnelly’s Dundee goal celebration vs Celtic was muted

The young defender seemed shocked at scoring against Celtic as Donnelly explains his actions, “When I scored I didn’t really know what to do, to be honest.

“It has been over two years since I last got a goal! The boys really just got around me which was a great moment for myself and my family watching back home.”

Indeed. It may also be down to the fact that Donnelly is also a Celtic supporter but that is a theory 67 Hail Hail will leave to Neil Lennon and Kris Boyd.

As for Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, he must now look to get his team back to winning ways this weekend with the Scottish Cup up next at Celtic Park.

Kilmarnock come to visit and Rodgers will be hoping that he can continue his quest for another treble with a win against Derek McInnes’ side.
