Celtic fans will be glad that the final international break of the 2024/25 campaign is about to come to a close.
To make up for the blank spaces, a lot of transfer news gets flown around, and the biggest news emerging from the English Premier League is that Trent Alexander-Arnold could be heading to Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold might be a boyhood Liverpool fan, but he also had a lot of love for Celtic when he was growing up.
There are a lot of Liverpool and Celtic connections, from You’ll Never Walk Alone, to players and managers who have represented both clubs.
Kenny Dalglish is the ultimate icon, so perhaps that is one of many reasons why Alexander-Arnold used to follow Celtic in such a manner, but not anymore!

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s past comments about Celtic as Liverpool star agrees Real Madrid move
One of the things that is annoying Liverpool supporters is Alexander-Arnold’s lack of loyalty and how he is leaving his boyhood team.
Barring an absolute collapse of the highest order, Arne Slot should guide Liverpool to the Premier League title this season, so the Anfield faithful can’t understand why he is going to Real Madrid, and that on a free transfer.
But this isn’t the first time that Alexander-Arnold has shown loyalty to one club and then switched in such a manner, because he did it with Celtic.
The England international once expressed his love for Scotland’s most successful club, but then changed his mind once Steven Gerrard took charge of Rangers in 2018, as he told GQ in 2020.
“Growing up, I was Celtic,” admitted Alexander-Arnold.
“But now, because of the connection now (with Steven Gerrard). I would probably be neutral up there now.”
Celtic to bring in their own Alexander-Arnold-like signing
There is nothing wrong with a free transfer, and if you are that buying club, then it’s a great deal, especially if that individual is a top player.
But whilst all the talk in the summer will be about Alexander-Arnold’s free transfer to Madrid, Celtic are about to bring in their own free signing.
Kieran Tierney will join Celtic from Arsenal when his contract at the Emirates expires, and he will be hoping to prove why he is one of the best in Europe when he returns to his boyhood club.
