Ex-Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele, has gotten his Al-Ettifaq career off to a great start after the Frenchman made his goalscoring debut for his new club.
Dembele signed for the Saudo Pro League side towards the end of July which ended an incredible two-month search for a new club for the former Celtic man.
However, he made his debut for Steven Gerrard’s side and made an immediate impact as he scored the winner over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. You can watch his goal below:
Although the goal was watched by just under 14,000 supporters, Dembele’s 53rd-minute winner will have automatically endeared himself to his new club’s fans.
This goal will come as no surprise to the Celtic fans. We all know about the quality that Dembele possesses and although it was a simple tap-in, Dembele showed great awareness to get into the position to finish from close range.

Dembele’s goal-scoring record at Celtic and Lyon was undeniable. 51 in 94 appearances for the Hoops earned him his big move to Lyon where, despite an unhappy final season, the striker still managed to hit 70 goals in 172 outings which is an average of a goal every 2.45 games. [Transfermarkt]
Many will have questioned Dembele’s decision to play his football in Saudi Arabia. No doubt the salary the Frenchman will be on had a major bearing on his commitment to make the move to the Middle East.
But he is still at an age where, if he keeps up his goalscoring form, he could still tempt clubs from around Europe to make a move for him.
For now, though, Dembele is back where he belongs. On the pitch, playing football. We will keep a close eye on his progress in the Pro League as he looks to fire his new club to silverware this season.
