West Ham fans issue interesting take on nabbing young Celtic talent Daniel Cummings

The season has concluded, and moves are starting to happen in the summer transfer market with Celtic in the thick of the action.

There has been a lot of talk about Celtic needing another striker, but Daniel Cummings certainly won’t be that man for Brendan Rodgers because he is off.

Cummings is set to join West Ham United and become another youth talent from Glasgow, deciding that his future lies elsewhere, and in the English Premier League.

The Hammers produced an abject campaign last time out, finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table after David Moyes’ departure last summer.

Graham Potter was linked with the Celtic job before Rodgers came back, but he is now tasked with trying to get the London club back into Europe next term.

And West Ham feel Cummings is a player who, in the long run, can help them get back to winning ways.

West Ham United fans react as Daniel Cummings set to join from Celtic

Fabrizio Romano has shared that Cummings will officially join West Ham on July 1, and the medical is ‘completed and done’.

The transfer expert also added that Celtic will get ‘€300k training compensation’ for this deal.

The West Ham supporters on social media are mixed about this one. Some have reacted sarcastically to this signing, and see him as a squad player, but others are upbeat and think he will do well.

@WHUFCpubtalk thinks West Ham have made an upgrade: ‘Good player to come off the bench, and Ings upgrade, and potentially better in time’.

@Hammer_Dan3 with an interesting response: ‘“Next level”’.

Another West Ham fan who feels it’s a squad signing, as @Iconiceu added: ‘Okay squad depth now some big signings please!! sign a striker!!’.

@JamesOberdank seemed to be delighted: ‘LONDON IS CLARET. UP THE IRONS!!’.

@NthnlChlds raised a question: ‘Does he start for us?’

@danwestham1 joked about Cummings’ arrival at the London Stadium: ‘And that concludes @WestHam transfer window…. bravo Sully (David Sullivan)’.

@ThePremierIron was another happy Hammer fan: ‘Great to see, definitely a great player already made a appearance in the champions league. Really interesting to see what our plans are considering his lack of senior experience but still a great signing and loads of potential’.

@ConductorWM was mixed on the Cummings’ signing: ‘Honestly? Don’t know him at all, but numbers are impressive. Could be hella value…or like a typical west ham striker, he’ll probably rip an ACL within 2 games’.

@JakeCOYI is just happy with an early signing: ‘We made a signing early’.

@FPLHammer96 is backing Cummings to do well: ‘He’s breaking the striker curse!’.

Cummings’ Celtic numbers at Youth level

It’s crazy to think that Cummings’ one and only appearance for the champions of Scotland was in the Champions League away at Aston Villa.

He will get a taste of playing against the likes of Villa next term, but it proves that Rodgers was trying to give him hope of staying, but it didn’t work, and he wasn’t seen again.

This is how Cummings’ numbers at the youth level have looked during his time in Glasgow.
