Peter Martin set the cat among the pigeons with his claim that Celtic were talking to Wilfried Nancy about ending his short spell as manager.
Martin’s Celtic claim drew a lot of attention on social media, with many fans ridiculing him, claiming he was making the story up.
Celtic denied it through club ‘sources’ reaching out to their contacts in the media but it appears that Martin is not letting this go.
Speaking on his PLZ Soccer show, the journalist and presenter has doubled down on his claim and gone even further by revealing what ‘people in the background’ at Celtic are telling him about player unhappiness and how they are viewing Nancy’s performance so far.

While Celtic have denied that talks to end Nancy’s tenure have happened, Martin has doubled down on that and slammed the board.
Martin said on PLZ Soccer, “I stand by what I said. The conversation is basically to him. He’s hanging on by a thread, game by game basis.
“He’s lost four consecutive games. Roma is a get out of jail card. The other three managers worked him out.
“Hearts, understandable. St Mirren, with a fraction, and I mean a fraction of the budget of Celtic, defeated them in a cup final. Then Dundee United, who had one win in 11 games going into that match against Celtic, but managed to defeat them.
“So you bet your bottom dollar there was a conversation had as to what the future holds for Wilfried Nancy.
“And at the end of the day, if someone says to me, no, that discussion did not take place, then that’s a further indictment on the Celtic Board who remain clueless and rudderless.”
Martin calls out Celtic’s ‘lackey journalists’ and claims players are ‘unhappy’ with Nancy
Not content on slamming the Celtic board, Martin has taken a swipe at his colleagues in the media and also claimed that players at the club are unhappy with Nancy.
Martin continued, “Some of the players are not happy with him. I know a lot of people in the background at Celtic, and they’re looking in dismay at what’s going on.
“Now, I still am adamant that there is a conversation that took place, but I’m adamant that I think the manager, I don’t think you can sack him so early into his tenure.
“But if he loses on Sunday, what do you do? Do they put out another statement? Do they start phoning around all the papers and saying, listen, his job’s safe.
“Michael Nicholson’s back, he’s got a transfer window. What do they do? Do they phone them all and then have their little lackey journalists who agree to write whatever they want to write?”

Martin seems pretty adamant that the conversations between Nancy and Celtic have taken place but he’s taken it one step further today.
If players are unhappy, that generally means the beginning of the end for any manager, not just at Celtic.
Nancy could do with a win against Aberdeen at Celtic Park because if he loses that, we’ll definitely see if what Martin has been told is true or not.
