What Aberdeen’s Alexander Jensen said about Celtic before Parkhead mauling looks daft now

Celtic battered Aberdeen despite not being at their best.

Brendan Rodgers’ side looked sluggish in the first half as Celtic eventually beat Aberdeen comfortably in a 5-1 win that keeps the 13-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership table intact.

A Daizen Maeda double, Callum McGregor’s 50th Celtic goal and then another from Jota and Hyunjun Yang sealed the win as the Bhoys never really got into their groove against Jimmy Thelin’s men.

However, in the build-up to the big game, Aberdeen’s Alexander Jensen was speaking about Celtic when he made a comment about the Parkhead club that makes the Dane look rather foolish now.

Alexander Jensen admits he watched Celtic vs Bayern Munich

The Danish fullback joined Aberdeen this season as part of Jimmy Thelin’s plans to rebuild the Pittodrie club.

And in the runup to the Parkhead clash, the 23-year-old admits he watched Celtic’s draw with Bayern Munich.

Jensen told the Press & Journal, “In Scottish football, it’s different to what I have been used to before.

“There are more duels, it’s more physical and you have to adapt to that. I have found it good and enjoy the intensity.

“Also, it is more intense on the pitch and also in the surroundings, I like it. I watched Celtic against Bayern Munich, they are a great team.”

Aberdeen’s Jensen says Celtic may ‘not be the best’ team he has faced

Jensen then continued to give his thoughts on the upcoming clash with the Hoops when he said that he expects Celtic not to be the best team he has faced in his short career.

Jensen continued, “I expect they will be maybe not be the best I have played against but they will be up there. We have to be ready for that.

“The manager has been showing us clips of Celtic and the things we have to focus on. It’s going to be tough, up against players of Celtic’s levels and I am looking forward to seeing how I can adapt to that.

“That is the way to become better. I hope that’s how it works for me.”

Having spent all of his career so far in the Danish second tier before his move to Scotland, this is a bizarre take from the Aberdeen defender.

Statistically speaking, according to Fotmob, Jensen was one of the worst players on the park and being part of a defence that has just conceded five goals to Celtic, maybe Jensen will learn to keep his powder dry in future, especially as the Bhoys never got of second gear on Tuesday night.
