What Ally McCoist said he ‘would never’ do with Celtic & Rangers in the media, Hoops fans will disagree

The talkSPORT pundit regularly talks about Celtic and Rangers on the national radio station.

Celtic’s trophy history points to a period of almost total domination over Rangers with the Parkhead club leading the way as Scotland’s most successful club after Celtic beat the Ibrox club in the League Cup final.

With 119 trophies to their name, Celtic are heading towards another treble this season which would put clear daylight between them and Rangers’ trophy ‘haul’ which has caused no end of pain over in the south side of Glasgow.

Which makes Ally McCoist’s claim about what he would do in the media when covering both Celtic and Rangers a wee bit eye-raising.

Ally McCoist said he would ‘never’ cover Celtic & Rangers in the media ‘as a fan’

McCoist told The Scottish Sun, “Everybody knows I grew up supporting Rangers and then played for them.

“Of course, inside you’re happy when they are doing well.

“I’m not someone who jumps up and down though. I try to keep my emotions to myself.

“I told myself when I went into the media I’d say what I see.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen or whoever.

“I would never be that guy who’s up there as a fan. I try to separate the two.”

McCoist ‘would never be that guy who’s up there as a fan’, now? Let’s take a little look at that claim.

All of Ally McCoist’s Celtic pain as Parkhead club lord it over Rangers

Now, McCoist can be complimentary of Celtic when he needs to be so 67 Hail Hail is not going to be disingenuous and claim otherwise.

However, there are plenty of times when the former Rangers man has let his Ibrox colours show, especially off the back of a Celtic defeat.

McCoist showed his Rangers ‘agony’ when Martin O’Neill laid bare the ‘massive gulf’ between Celtic and the Ibrox club earlier this season.

The ex-Rangers man was also gutted when he heard about rap legend, Snoop Dogg’s intentions of investing in Celtic as well.

McCoist also ‘didn’t enjoy’ praising Celtic after the Scottish champions taught RB Leipzig a lesson in the Champions League win at Celtic Park earlier this season.

Finally, because we could be here all day, McCoist once admitted that talking about Celtic ‘destroyed’ him after speaking to Neil Lennon about the Parkhead club being ‘unstoppable’ this season.

Don’t know about you but this sounds like McCoist talking about both Glasgow clubs as a Rangers fan, doesn’t it?
