Everyone connected to Celtic will have been gutted at the Bayern Munich result last night.

None more so than the Celtic first team. After matching everything that Bayern Munich could throw at them, Brendan Rodgers’ side just couldn’t get past the finishing line as Alphonso Davies broke the Scottish champions’ hearts.

Celtic’s draw with Bayern helped create a little piece of history as the Bhoys’ battling performance restored the Parkhead club’s reputation in the Champions League.

As the Celtic fans head home from Germany and those at home return to work gutted, Rodgers shares what he told his players at full-time inside the Allianz Arena.

Brendan Rodgers tells his players about Celtic’s Champions League plans for next season

The Hoops boss was asked after the game what the message was to his players after the match as Rodgers talked up the team who gave him ‘everything’.

Rodgers told Amazon Sports Prime, “Well, I said that I came back here to make progress in Europe, and if I judge that myself on tonight, then they’ve given me everything.

“So now our job is to learn from that, learn from the experiences we’ve had this season, and finish off our season really well, get back into the Champions League next season and let’s see we can improve again.

Brendan Rodgers hails his ‘heroic’ Celtic stars vs Bayern Munich

Rodgers also heaped praise on his players after the game as the Celtic manager branded his team’s performance as heroic.

Rodgers said post-match, “It was obviously not what the players deserved, especially right at the very end.

“I know they gave so much to the game. Played with confidence with the ball. We knew we would have to defend, but we didn’t give away too much in the game.

“I thought our concentration was good and denied them space but then we had quality and some great moves and actually had the best chances in the game, I felt.

“So real heroic performance and just unfortunate at the end.”
