Johnny Kenny’s career both domestically with Celtic and now internationally with Ireland has skyrocketed this season.
Kenny looked so far out of the picture at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers many would have been forgiven for thinking Kenny would leave the club.
Johnny Kenny is on fire at Celtic after scoring four goals in his last four games and it is that that earned the young Hoops striker an Ireland call-up.
The Celtic striker blew Ireland’s coaches away at his first training session and in the country’s biggest game of the World Cup campaign, Kenny was given his debut in the historic win in Budapest.
And the Irish media are loving the Celtic youngster.

And as Troy Parrot stole the headlines with his hat-trick, the Irish media did not forget the young Celtic striker’s contribution.
Irish Mirror: “World-class close range save from him in injury-time.”
RTE: “Some occasion for the Sligo man to make his senior debut but the Celtic striker was coming in off good club form.
“His first major intervention was defensive as he battled back to win possession in the left back zone while giving Ryan Manning a dig out. Largely, played to the left of the attacking unit.
“Had a great chance after ghosting in at the far post on the ’90 but Hungary’s keeper made a really good save.”
Balls.ie: “Coming on for the final half hour to make his Ireland debut, Kenny looked dangerous in and around the box.
“Was unfortunate not to add a third for Ireland prior to Parrott’s late winner.”
