The news that Man City were interested in signing Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic came out of the blue yesterday.
We discussed how the Premier League club have been admirers of Kyogo for some time now and how the Celtic hero feels about a possible move to Pep Guardiola’s side.
City were said to have prioritised getting the deal to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Barcelona before taking their interest in the Celtic striker further.
Now that Gundogan has verbally agreed to move to Man City, journalist Sam Lee has shared that the English club is likely to decide whether or not they will look to sign Kyogo.
When Man City will be ‘pushing ahead’ with Kyogo deal
With just over a week of the transfer window to go, City will need to decide quickly if they really want Kyogo but it seems that a decision to do so is imminent.
Lee told The Athletic FC podcast, “With this, it’s like, well, your assistant, who Guardiola believes is better than he is, he’s like, ‘What did you think about playing with him?’
“So even though there are these little doubts with the shoulder injury, the level of English, this kind of thing, but it’s not going to be a perfect signing.
“But in terms of the attributes and the feedback they’ve got, they’re obviously confident enough to say, okay, we’ll have a look at this.
“But that is expected to be pushing ahead today, Wednesday, Thursday, because on Monday, Tuesday they were trying to get Gundogan done.

“But as we know, that is done now, so they can cast their eye back to the strikers in the next 48 hours.”
It seems like the Celtic fans will need to brace themselves for some big activity over the coming days.
With interest from Brighton in Matt O’Riley reaching a fever pitch and Reo Hatate also attracting the attention of Leicester City, the final few days of the transfer window is going to be nervy as the Celtic fans hope that Brendan Rodgers can avoid losing too many important first-team players.
