Wilfried Nancy spoke to the media for the first time since becoming the Celtic manager.

After being appointed earlier this week, Nancy arrived in Glasgow to begin his work as the new boss.

Nancy revealed he spoke to Martin O’Neill after taking the job and is hoping to continue the good work this weekend with a win against title challengers Hearts.

It is going to be a tough test to kick off his reign, and the 48-year-old wanted to publicly speak to supporters before the game.

What do you think the score will be against Hearts?

What Wilfried Nancy said to Celtic fans in his first press conference

Ahead of this weekend’s game, Nancy spoke in front of the media for the first time and was asked an array of questions.

One of those included what he had to say to supporters and what his first impressions were. Understandably, they were positive.

He said: ” Passionate. I’m really pleased with that because my job is not a normal job. The life that we have is unbelievable but at the same time we know we have pressure.

“Pressure is part of life. I was really pleased to see people welcome me yesterday everywhere. I hope it stays like that! But I’m really, really happy.”

Which player is most likely to thrive under Wilfried Nancy?

Nancy then continued: “I don’t read into the future. What happened in the past, that’s life. Life is up and down. We’re going to have that.

“The only thing that I can say is that the idea is to get better every time. To be good in the process, with how we want to play, to bring clarity to the player on how we want to play, and after that – to play with passion. This club is a club with passion.

“We play also for the fans so it’s totally normal that if we don’t play well that they can say something, but the idea is to please them.”
