Celtic’s hopes of signing Lennon Miller could be scuppered by his Scotland teammates

Lennon Miller and Celtic, a story that seems like it will never end.

Miller has been wanted by Celtic for some time but they aren’t the only club looking at the teenager.

Ross McCormack claimed Miller is destined for a move elsewhere and the Motherwell star may be convinced to try his hand at somewhere other than Parkhead.

The 18-year-old was praised by Scott Brown for a “mature” debut against Liechtenstein, in which Miller starred.

It’s another accolade to add to the midfielder’s collection but his time with Scotland could end up being the nail in the coffin.

Lennon Miller has struck up a friendship with Scotland’s Serie A stars

Scotland’s players have had varying degrees of success with their clubs this season, in particular Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour as they helped Napoli to the Scudetto.

Both are part of the growing collection of Scotland stars plying their trade overseas and Lennon’s father Lee revealed that he had been spending a lot of time with the duo.

He told the Daily Record: “Lennon sees them, he rubs shoulders with them in the Scotland squad and has done really well and thrived in that environment.

“He really liked his time away and I think Scott McTominay took a shine to him. He rubbed shoulders with him, bounced ideas off of him and played alongside him.

“Billy was great for him as well and I think Billy and Lennon complemented each other in the second game.”

Serie A clubs eye up move for Lennon Miller

As well as Premier League and Bundesliga sides, a host of Italian clubs are keen to add Miller to their ranks.

Serie A seems the most likely destination and while it would appeal, his dad has insisted he will only join a club he will play football at.

Celtic could offer that and Brendan Rodgers would be able to sell the vision to the boyhood Hoops fan.

But, now he has mixed with stars playing all across the globe, will the allure of following in their footsteps mean Celtic miss out?
