Colin Miller’s Wilfried Nancy and Russell Martin comparison can easily be debunked by clear fact

Colin Miller was wrong to say that Celtic appointing Wilfried Nancy would be similar to Russell Martin being hired by Rangers.

The MLS expert claimed that Celtic are taking a risk with Nancy due to his lack of experience in Europe, and Scottish football.

Nancy is the clear favourite for the role and could arrive as early as next week, according to reports.

While the lack of experience in Europe is a valid point to make, comparing him to Martin is something that can immediately be put to bed.

Poll: Do you want Wilfried Nancy to become the new Celtic manager?

Wilfried Nancy is a winner, Russell Martin is not

One look at both of their records would tell you straightaway that Nancy is a serial winner.

At Columbus Crew and CF Montreal, the 47-year-old won the Canadian Championship, MLS Cup and Leagues Cup, as well as being named manager of the year.

On the other hand, Martin’s best achievement as manager was getting Southampton promoted through the play-offs before being sacked just a few months later.

His short-lived spell at Rangers proves that he wasn’t cut out for the job, so to label someone who knows what it takes to win as similar to one who doesn’t feels wrong.

Wilfried Nancy has all the ingredients to be a successful manager

As well as having the knack for winning trophies, the Columbus boss has all the hallmarks of being a success at Celtic.

Under his watch, the MLS side have become one of the most entertaining teams in the league with their clear, free-flowing, attacking football.

It is clear that he improves players when he arrives too, which will be music to the ears of supporters who are hoping to see summer signings like Michel-Ange Balikwisha actually realise their potential.
