Celtic were desperate for reinforcements this summer, especially in the attacking area of the team.
Brendan Rodgers has been saying for months how the Celtic first-team needs strengthening this summer and after a frantic day of transfer deadline day rumour, the club failed him.
In fact, another SPFL club actually embarrassed Celtic after they pulled off a stunning deadline capture.
And now, this player will face Brendan Rodgers at least three times this season and it is one that Celtic could have pulled off if they really wanted to.

Aberdeen’s loan move for Bologna’s £8.6m Jesper Karlsson may haunt Celtic
Aberdeen pulled off a stunning transfer deadline day move for Swedish international winger Jesper Karlsson.
Gianluca Di Marzio reported how Bologna snapped up the winger for €10m (£8.6m) in 2023 and now, he will face Celtic this season on more than one occasion.
Karlsson has 14 caps and five goals for Sweden and despite being a predominantly left-sided winger, the new Aberdeen winger can also play on the right.
With 108 goals in 322 career appearances, Karlsson certainly has an eye for goal and with 56 assists he clearly loves helping out his teammates too.
Despite a lack of minutes for Bologna, Karlsson would have been a quality addition to the Celtic team and he will cause a lot of damage for Aberdeen this season.
Three free agents Celtic could still target
With the transfer window now closed, Celtic can still do business this summer.
We told this morning that there are three players Celtic could target that won’t cost the club a penny and also add quality to the team.
- Patrick Bamford
- Paco Alcacer
- Vincent Aboubakar
Will Celtic get another deal done this week, that’s a question for the board to ask.
