Wilfried Nancy makes big Kasper Schmeichel decision vs Motherwell – Celtic predicted XI

Kasper Schmeichel has been coming under the spotlight recently after some poor performances for Celtic this season.

The big goalkeeper has been an absolute stalwart since he signed for Celtic 18 months ago but recently, Schmeichel’s form has dipped.

Doubts have been raised about the Celtic goalkeeper after high profile errors in the Premier Sports Cup final defeat to St Mirren and in the Bhoys’ win over Aberdeen.

The veteran stopper was taken out of the firing line in Celtic’s win at Livingston after injury forced Schmeichel to sit out the away day.

Should Celtic prioritise replacing Kasper Schmeichel in the transfer window?

But as the goalkeeper is expected to return to action tonight, Wilfried Nancy has a choice to make. Does he stick with Viljami Sinisalo or will the Celtic manager propel Schmeichel back into his starting XI to face Motherwell tonight?

Kasper Schmeichel hits the Celtic bench vs Motherwell

Despite conceding two goals against Livingston, Sinisalo must keep his starting spot in the big game against Motherwell tonight.

The Finnish goalkeeper couldn’t really do too much about the two Livingston goals as his defence let him down.

And while we still believe Sinisalo could have been more commanding at Almondvale, he didn’t do too much wrong in the 4-2 away win.

The young goalkeeper needs a run in the side and starting against Motherwell may well propel Sinisalo into Nancy’s thoughts for the Glasgow Derby game against Rangers at Celtic Park.

As for Schmeichel, as he enters the final six months of his contract, now is the perfect time to start using the big Dane as a back-up goalkeeper and blood in the young Sinisalo as Celtic’s number one.

Predicted Celtic starting XI vs Motherwell

After Celtic’s win at Livingston, it does look like Nancy is starting to get a tune out of his players after six games in charge.

So with that in mind, here is 67 Hail Hail’s predicted XI to face Motherwell in the final Scottish Premiership fixture of 2025.

Nancy will start with the team that won in Livingston as the Celtic manager looks for his third win of his short tenure.

Celtic’s attacking threat at Almondvale was on point and Nancy should continue with the same team that showed true grit and battling qualities to come back twice from being behind.

With the slim chance of going top, the Hoops boss will undoubtedly be telling his players to go for it tonight. Whether or not they can keep the back door closed is another matter.
