Celtic are working hard in the final days of the transfer window to get their squad ready for the rest of the season.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha was confirmed by the Hoops on Thursday night and Brendan Rodgers is now looking for a striker after it was revealed that Adam Idah is having a medical at Swansea City.

It seems that the Bhoys are moving quickly though and Kasper Dolberg is Celtic’s ‘number one target’.

A fresh update from Anthony Joseph confirmed that talks to sign Dolberg are underway as they go in search of a quick Idah replacement.

There is plenty to be excited about the 27-year-old’s possible arrival, especially based on his previous record.

Kasper Dolberg was once shortlisted for 2017 Golden Boy award

Dolberg is currently plying his trade at Anderlecht, where he has scored five goals in eight games this season.

In his early days, the Denmark international was recognised as one of football’s hottest young properties and in 2017, was shortlisted by Tuttosport for the Golden Boy award.

He was joined by a number of high-profile players which included Kylian Mbappe, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marcus Rashford.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to end in glory for Dolberg that year with Mbappe unsurprisingly taking home the Golden Boy prize.

Kasper Dolberg is exactly what Celtic need

The Hoops need to find a striker with European pedigree to take them to the next level and compete.

Unlike any of Celtic’s current striking options, Dolberg has spent the majority of his career playing on the continental stage and facing the pressure of being a former wonder kid.

Crucially, the Denmark international has a face he already knows at the club, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from their club and international affiliations.

At 27, he isn’t coming in as the youngest player in the squad but, his experience is vital and can benefit everyone at Celtic.
