Celtic fans might be wondering when their January transfer window comes to life.
To be fair, across the whole of Europe, because of the financial restrictions, teams are reluctant to do transfer business and it’s not all-action like it used to be once upon a time.
From Celtic’s perspective, there might not be any glaring issues to deal with right now because they are so dominant in Scotland.
But, sometimes, it’s best to enhance your squad when you are on top and Brendan Rodgers has openly spoken about wanting to bring players in this month.
So far, the main confirmed talking point has been Alexandro Bernabei leaving Celtic and joining Internacional on a permanent basis – he was on-loan at the Brazil club.
And, as the days edge closer to the deadline, it seems as though the left-back topic could become a bit of a theme at Parkhead.
Kieran Tierney worth ‘£50 million’ as Celtic push to sign Arsenal star
Kieran Tierney is expected to leave Arsenal ahead of his contract expiring in the summer and Rodgers wants a reunion with the player.
Barry Ferguson has lauded Tierney as a ‘top-class’ player and stated that he is ‘baffled’ as to why Arsenal are not playing him.
The Scotland international returned from injury last month, but has only played 89 minutes and remained on the bench as an unused substitute for most part.
Ferguson thinks that, if you take away those injury issues, then Tierney is worth ‘£50 million’, as he told Go Radio.

“If they get Kieran Tierney, spoke about his many times, I know he has had his injury issues, but if he can stay injury clear, then he is a top-class player, Kieran Tierney,” said Ferguson.
“Let’s be serious, if Kieran Tierney was injury-free over the last couple of years, then Celtic would have no chance of getting him. I am baffled why he still doesn’t play at Arsenal. There is an issue there between him and Arteta. I am sure we will find that out in the coming months.
“If he was injury-free and playing week in and week out, he would be worth £50 million all day long.”
Greg Taylor’s Celtic contract ‘surprise’
Taylor has divided opinion amongst Celtic fans, even if Rodgers has lauded and applauded him in the media.
But Ferguson expressed his ‘surprise’ at Celtic not agreeing a new contract with their starting left-back – he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club right now.
Ferguson lauded Taylor as a player and how he is someone who is a ‘very good teammate’, as he told Go Radio.
“It still isn’t sorted out, in terms of Greg Taylor,” added Ferguson. “I have been thinking about it. I know he isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but one thing is that he is very steady.
“Another thing about him, you never see him injured. He churns out some amount of games. He looks to me like he wouldn’t be an issue for the manager or the coaching staff. I would imagine he would be a very good teammate.
“I am surprised that Celtic haven’t tied him down to a new contract. Now, Greg Taylor might not want to sign a new contract and he might go and try something different.”
