Celtic’s January transfer plans could burst into life during the final weeks of the window.

Brendan Rodgers wants to add to his Celtic squad, but the club are yet to make moves and two names have been doing the rounds.

Everyone has been talking about Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic, with the Arsenal left-back out-of-contract in the summer and he is expected to leave.

Rodgers has two left-backs to pick from – starter Greg Taylor and on-loan Barcelona star, Alex Valle, but the latter could have his loan ended as Cesc Fabregas’ FC Como wants to sign the Spanish youngster.

Another name coming into the equation in recent weeks is Aston Villa’s rising forward Louie Barry – he had his season-long loan at Stockport County cut short this month.

Celtic have entered the race to sign Barry, but it’s not yet known if Villa will let him go, as several clubs circle to secure his signature.

Unai Emery took on his former side on Saturday evening in the Premier League, as Aston Villa came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at the Emirates.

Villa host Celtic in the Champions League on January 29, but weeks after returning from his loan spell, Barry was, once again, not included in the matchday squad by his manager.

Barry was a natural striker coming through the ranks at B6, before thriving on the left on-loan at Stockport, but with the likes of Jhon Duran, new signing Donyell Malen and Leon Bailey on the bench, then you can understand why Barry isn’t featuring.

But you also presume that it opens the door for the 21-year-old to head for the exit door this month.

Kieran Tierney an unused substitute as Celtic push for a deal

If Valle leaves Celtic, then you can bet your bottom dollar that Tierney arrives, but so far, Arteta is hardly using him.

The Scotland star returned from injury last month, but he has only played 89 minutes since, even though Arsenal fans are raving about Tierney.

Arteta has been hit with big injuries and he decided to only make one substitution as they blew a 2-0 lead against Villa, including leaving Tierney on the bench.

Surely, that opens the door for the player to leave because he isn’t going to help himself by remaining on the bench at Arsenal.
