The January transfer window didn’t go as planned as Celtic fans were left frustrated and hugely disappointed by the month’s work.

From wanting a striker to crying out for a left-back, not only did the latter not arrive, but the feeling is that the Adam Idah signing was all short-term thinking.

The fact that the Republic of Ireland star has joined Celtic on a loan deal until the end of the campaign, with no option to sign, says it all.

One man that certain sections of the media were urging Celtic to sign is Bojan Miovski, with Willie Miller baffled as to why he didn’t move to Parkhead, as he told BBC Sport.

The 24-year-old showcased to Brendan Rodgers’ side what they missed out on by scoring an outstanding opening goal during the dropped points at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Up until managerless Aberdeen scored, the home side were under massive pressure, yet when Bojan Miovski was provided with that one moment, he put the ball into the back of the net in a ruthless manner.

Willie Miller called him the ‘star performer’ and pointed out that ‘Celtic had the money’, yet opted against any deal.

‘Why did Celtic not go and sign him,” asked Miller. “He’s the man. Star performer. What a magnificent strike. Celtic had money, why didn’t they go and get him?

“Quite an incredible strike from Miovski. From the halfway line almost, he finds the space, gets it onto the left foot and drills it into the bottom corner.”

Celtic taking risks

Everyone knows there is money in the bank, and the fear is that Matt O’Riley will leave in the summer, which will only increase the millions the club will have available.

But if Celtic are taking risks by waiting until the summer to buy THAT player, then it’s a huge risk and one that could backfire given that quality is needed for the here and now, just look at the table.

All it is doing is putting the powers that be under huge pressure and Rodgers himself.

The fans have been rightfully on the back of the board for months and months now, only back in December did you hear chants of ‘sack the board’ during the defeat to Hearts.

The hope was that all the outside noise would be shut down by the performances on the pitch, but that clearly isn’t happening.
