Celtic fans have been feeling a sense of frustration over this summer’s transfer window.
After watching the likes of Nicolas Kuhn leave Celtic for Como, fans have been growing increasingly concerned about the attacking options that Brendan Rodgers has at his disposal.
With Jota out injured and Luis Palma on loan at Lech Poznan, Rodgers’ only attacking wide options are now James Forrest, Hyunjun Yang and Daizen Maeda.
Marco Tilio’s Celtic exit is currently up in the air as the Parkhead club put a block on his move to SK Rapid Wien until new wingers come in.
And here, the Celtic manager has delivered a timeline on when fans can expect a transfer announcement by the club.
Brendan Rodgers expects a new Celtic signing ‘this week’
With Celtic being linked to numerous players, fans are in the dark about when or who will be coming to the club.
But Rodgers has now told the Celtic support that they may not have too long to wait now.
Rodgers told Sky Sports, “Well, we hope this week there might be some news on that, but I think coaches and the transfer market don’t move at the same pace.
“A coach always wants a player in immediately, but the transfer market doesn’t always work like that.
“There’s a lot that has to do and goes into it, but it’s also the reason for pre-season. You want your team together as quick as you can so you can get some good work in, get the togetherness, get the spirit, everything formed.
“But, we know that traditionally, it can be a challenge. But for us, by the end of the month, hopefully that will be the case, by the end of the window.
“But in the meantime, we’re working very, very hard, really excited by what’s here at the moment, and looking forward to the weekend.”
Who Celtic have already signed this month
Celtic have added seven players to the squad this summer so let’s take a look at who they are:
- Kieran Tierney – Arsenal – free
- Isaac English – Greenock Morton – £50k
- Ross Doohan – Aberdeen – free
- Benjamin Nygren – FC Nordsjælland – £2m
- Callum Osmand – Fulham – development fee
- Hayato Inamura – Albirex Niigata – £250k
- Shin Yamada – Kawasaki Frontale – £1.5m
Out of those seven, only four (Tierney, Nygren, Yamada and Inamura) can be looked at as real Celtic first-team squad players as the rest are either development players or not had enough pre-season game time.
Many Celtic fans will hope Yamada will slot straight into Brendan Rodgers’ side and become that elusive replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi.
