Celtic’s pursuit of Jakob Breum from Go Ahead Eagles continues this week.

With Brendan Rodgers keen to strengthen Celtic’s attacking options, it’s clear Jakob Breum is one the Celtic manager wants.

Celtic first bid for Breum just over seven days ago with a £1.5m offer that Go Ahead Eagles immediately rejected.

Reports suggested that Celtic returned with an improved offer of £3m for the young Danish winger which was also thrown out by the Dutch club.

But it appears that those reports of a £3m bid were a bit off as Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph shares how much Celtic actually offered Go Ahead Eagles for Breum.

Celtic’s ‘latest offer’ for Jakob Breum as Go Ahead Eagles want £5m

As previously said, Celtic were said to have upped the ante to get Breum with a £3m offer but Joseph reveals that the improved bid was actually much lower than the figure reported.

Joseph took to X and said, “UPDATE: Go Ahead Eagles are standing firm on their valuation of attacking midfielder Jakob Breum.

“It’s understood Go Ahead Eagles are looking for at least £5m for the 21-year-old.

“Celtic have had two bids rejected for Breum – the latest offer being £2.6m.

“Negotiations are ongoing.”

So the bid was £400,000 less than what was reported and still HALF of what the Eredivisie club values their young winger at.

With Celtic refusing to sell Marco Tilio until a new winger has been brought in, many fans would be entitled to think that the club would be keen to get this deal over the line and rake in the £1.3m to get the young Australian off the wage bill.

What Jakob Breum’s agent has said about a move to Celtic

It appears that Celtic want Breum and Go Ahead are willing to sell if the price is right. But what about the player and his agent? What do they want?

We told yesterday how Go Ahead’s technical director Jan Willem van Dop spoke about Celtic’s interest in Breum, and here, he shares where the Danish winger’s agent hopes his client goes.

Van Dop said, “I at least indicated that we did not go along with the bid that they made. And coincidentally this morning, obviously we still had the agent on the line who hopes that he will go that way.

“And we are, I think, really not the hardest club, but it has to fit. And if we don’t come out of it financially better, we also have that that right, I think, to then say, ‘Well, then it’s not going to happen.’”
