Not many Celtic fans would argue that Marco Tilio needs to leave the club to take his career forward.
Since joining Celtic over two years ago now, Tilio has struggled to nail down a place in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad.
Indeed, Tilio arrived at Celtic injured so that put his Hoops career on the backfoot almost immediately. However, even when his injury cleared up, the young Australian still found life at Parkhead difficult.
The 23-year-old winger has spent two loan spells at Melbourne City, but now back at Celtic, it appeared that SK Rapid Wien were close to signing Tilio permanently this summer.
That was until the Parkhead club blocked the move and the reason for that will anger Celtic supporters.

Celtic won’t sell Marco Tilio to SK Rapid Wien until a winger is signed
Celtic have lost Luis Palma to Lech Poznan this summer and Nicolas Kuhn left the Bhoys in a £16.5m move to Como.
On top of Jota being injured at Celtic until at least next summer, that leaves Brendan Rodgers’ squad a bit light on attacking options.
A report from Austrian media outlet Kurier has confirmed that Tilio will not be allowed to leave Celtic until another winger has been signed by the Parkhead club.
With only James Forrest, Daizen Maeda and Hyunjun Yang as the Celtic first-team wingers left at the club, Rodgers’ front-line is seriously underprepared for the upcoming season.
What SK Rapid Wien are now saying after Celtic’s Tilio stance
It seems Celtic’s stance on Tilio has left SK Rapid Wien with no choice but to look elsewhere for a new winger.
Wien’s sporting director Markus Katzer said in an interview, “I can confirm that we would still like to sign a winger” after being told about Celtic’s predicament.
Celtic fans are likely to be unnerved at how the club have come to this situation. They have known that Tilio has no future at the club but yet the Parkhead club were quick enough to allow their best attacker in Kuhn to leave.
Celtic also allowed the Kuhn move to go through knowing that Jota will be side-lined for much, if not all, of next season and that Palma was exiting to Poland.
This story just sums up Celtic’s transfer window this summer and the online reaction to the news just proves that many supporters are becoming very disgruntled.
