Nicolas Kuhn looks like he could be on his way out of Celtic this summer as he closes in on a £15m move away.

Kicker have reported that Kuhn is in line to return to Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig off the back of an excellent season where he bagged 21 goals and registered 15 assists.

Brendan Rodgers has been told to let Kuhn leave after his performances in the second half of the season dropped off.

Newcastle United are also interested in the Celtic winger but appear to be too late as the German prepares to return to the club he spent three years at between 2015-2018 before joining Ajax.

In light of the rumours stating that the 25-year-old is in advanced discussions to leave Celtic Park, supporters have some mixed views on it.

Celtic fans react to Nicolas Kuhn’s prospective £15m move to RB Leipzig

On the face of it, Kuhn’s stats imply that he was excellent from start to finish last season but in reality, the German blew hot and cold.

From August to December he was unstoppable but since the start of the year, Kuhn has been consistently inconsistent.

It’s the story of his Celtic career and led to mixed views about the idea of him leaving.

@RjayCeltic said on X: “15m for Kuhn is a shambles man.”

However, @TheGr33nDove countered that by saying: “I’d say Kuhn to Leipzig makes sense. They finished 7th in Germany behind Mainz and Freiburg. He played well v them and is a German national. He isn’t going to a top 10 EPL side. £15m about fair and replace him with a winger more consistent, robust and can get to the byeline.”

@_Lennon1967 added: “Ridiculous the amount of people that are happy for Kuhn to go.”

@FaeTheYY said: “Kuhn won’t be a massive loss for me. He had a purple patch, most other times he was very average.”

@GaryCassidy17 commented: “He is a player, no doubt, but he has been very inconsistent. I also get the feeling he doesn’t want to be here. Take the £15m and move on.”

Who will replace Nicolas Kuhn?

The primary candidate to replace Kuhn would, of course, be Jota but, with injury ruling him out until 2026 and only James Forrest and Hyun-jun Yang as options, another winger is needed.

Michel Ange-Balikwisha has been linked with the Hoops, and could be the perfect player. Balikwisha appears open to joining Celtic and the sale of Kuhn would mean they have the funds available to complete a deal to bring in the winger.

Sondre Orjasaeter is another Celtic target but with PSV Eindhoven allegedly joining the chase for the Norwegian, a bidding war could escalate.
