Celtic have been told that ‘special player’ reminds former manager of Dusan Tadic

Celtic are still working hard to get more transfers through the door this summer.

Brendan Rodgers has made seven signings but with only a week to go until the start of the Scottish Premiership campaign, more work needs to be done.

Charlie Mulgrew thinks Celtic need a goal-scoring winger and although Michel-Ange Balikwisha has been the most common link, a new name entered the limelight.

As if the Hoops didn’t need convincing enough, one former manager has even compared him to Serbian star Dusan Tadic.

Jakob Breum compared to Dusan Tadic

Jakob Breum was the subject of a failed bid from Celtic back in May but reports only surfaced this month.

Breum scored 13 goals for the Eredivisie outfit Go Ahead Eagles as they went on to win the KNVB Cup.

Go Ahead Eagles value him at more than £5m and former FC Twente and Go Ahead manager Jan van Staa believes he is worth every penny before comparing him to ex-Southampton star Tadic.

He told Glasgow Times: “Every club is looking for something special…and Breum is certainly special.

“I am not saying he will have the same career as Dusan Tadic, but he reminds me of him and Twente sold him for £7 million.

“If I really wanted to find a special player in the Netherlands, he’d be on that list.

“You’re looking for extra class and this guy has extra class.”

Jakob Breum would be an instant starter at Celtic

Right now there are five genuine first-team wide-man options at Celtic Park.

Jota is out injured so can’t be called upon until 2026 meaning that only three of those remain as Marco Tilio is set to join Rapid Vienna.

James Forrest is now 34 and despite coming into his own towards the end of last season, can’t be relied upon every week.

Breum would come in and offer that chance to take the pressure off and with his experience in winning silverware at such a young age already, would be the perfect option.
