Kyogo Furuhashi has left Glasgow, struggled at his new club, gone on his summer holidays, joined Birmingham City, scored his first goal, and Celtic are still searching for his replacement.
It’s not a good look for the club, and matters are made worse because Celtic crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Kairat Almaty deserved to beat Celtic on penalties, with Daizen Maeda starting up top and Adam Idah then coming off the bench in the second half – all to no avail.
One man who was linked with a move to the champions of Scotland was Danny Ings, after he left West Ham United in the summer as a free agent.
But you can now rule out Ings being the one to join before the deadline.

Celtic transfer target Danny Ings joins Sheffield United
Ings has worked with Brendan Rodgers before at Liverpool, and his name was being thrown about in the Celtic rumour mill.
But the 33-year-old has decided to continue his footballing journey in England by joining Championship side Sheffield United.
The Blades, who lost the play-off final to Sunderland at Wembley last season and are currently sitting bottom of the table, expressed their delight on social media at signing ‘proven Premier League and Championship goalscorer’ Ings.
Who will be Celtic’s next striker?
That’s the burning question as the days tick down until transfer deadline day, and surely somebody has to come in.
With Ings out of the picture, the other English player who has been heavily linked with the Hoops has been free agent Jamie Vardy.
The 38-year-old left Leicester City at the end of last season, but you could probably put that to bed also because he could be joining Serie A side Cremonese.
Odsonne Edouard has been ruled out by the manager, whilst another free agent in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, joined newly-promoted Premier League side Leeds United.
The list starts to narrow, but before that September 1 deadline hits, the powers that be have to get somebody in, or the negative noise around the Champions League exit will only get worse.
