Celtic tipped to ‘very shortly’ make a transfer push for a player with ‘everything in his locker’

Celtic have covered four areas of the pitch during the summer transfer window.

A left-back, centre-back, goalkeeper and an attacker have joined Celtic, as more wide players, strikers and defenders continue to be linked with the club.

One area of the pitch that isn’t getting much noise in the transfer rumour mill is the middle of the park, and those number eight or six spots.

Currently, the likes of Celtic’s club-record transfer Arne Engels, captain Callum McGregor, 2024 summer signing Luke McCowan, added with Paulo Bernardo and Reo Hatate are the main guys fighting for those spots.

But could Celtic push for a name that has now been long linked with the club?

Celtic tipped to make a transfer push for Motherwell star Lennon Miller

Lennon Miller is still a Motherwell player, and he has returned to Fir Park for pre-season ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, despite the noise around his future.

Celtic are interested in Miller, but nothing concrete has happened yet, as Gordon Dalziel thinks a push for the teenager’s signature could happen ‘very shortly’.

Speaking to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Dalziel thinks the 18-year-old has ‘everything in his locker’, and thinks Miller would see it as a ‘fantastic challenge’ to work under someone like Brendan Rodgers.

“Lennon Miller is going to be one of the best talents in Scotland in the future,” said Dalziel. “He has everything in his locker to be the top, top player.

“If I were Motherwell, I would be wanting more than that (£4.5 million). But, at the end of the day, it just depends on what Celtic were prepared to offer, and what Motherwell are prepared to accept.

“Is Lennon Miller looking to stay in Scottish football? That’s a big question as well – he may just have his eyes open with that.

“Or, he just looks at Celtic and thinks, ‘what a fantastic challenge it is to go and work under a coach with the ability of Brendan Rodgers.’ And, of course, being at a club the size of Celtic.

“I am sure Celtic will probably have a lot of targets lined up, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you would see this moving very, very shortly. I think they need a couple of, for me, to please the Celtic fans. A couple of big names just to take it forward and give them that excitement.”

Celtic are missing a trick with Miller

Celtic love to buy an unknown gem or a rising talent, and it doesn’t seem as though a hefty fee would be required to get Miller out of Fir Park.

Around £5 million has been mooted, and if that’s the case, then those in the Celtic Park boardroom shouldn’t waste any time bringing in a player who had a breakthrough season last time out.

Added to that, Miller is now a Scotland international, so his reputation is only going to grow, as a move abroad would also be fantastic for him.

But if he does the job overseas, then from a financial standpoint, he will become out of Celtic’s reach.
