Celtic’s January transfer window has exploded into life.

Usually, managers don’t like the winter transfer window because it’s midway through the season and it disrupts their campaign.

But Brendan Rodgers has watched Kyogo leave Celtic and Jota make a return after leaving the club during the summer of 2023.

It’s all a huge shock to the supporters because, whilst there has been talk about Kyogo’s future for some while now, nobody expected it to dramatically conclude like it has done.

On Monday morning, Celtic confirmed Jota’s return and then Rennes announced the signing of Kyogo.

The Japan star leaves a void in the forward areas and that regular goalscorer, as many are wondering if the Bhoys will dip into the market for another striker because it’s going to be needed.

Celtic set to miss out on Louie Barry signing from Aston Villa

Celtic take on Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday night and the Premier League side’s rising youngster – Louie Barry – has been a huge talking point.

Barry was recalled from his loan spell at Stockport County after netting 16 goals in all competitions from the left wing and the champions of Scotland were one of many admirers.

But, despite that interest, it seems as though the 21-year-old will be jumping from his loan spell in England’s third tier to the second.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, the Yorkshire side has won the race for Barry’s signature and he is due for a medical at Hull.

Why Barry has decided to join Hull City despite Celtic interest

Having contacts in football is a huge thing and Hull’s owner – Acun Ilicali – has helped himself here.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, the club’s owner held direct talks with one of Aston Villa’s co-owners – Nassef Sawiris – and that has won the 19th-placed Championship side a ticket to Barry’s talents.

The report notes how Celtic wanted to take Barry to Parkhead, but the English club have won the race for his signature.

With Kyogo gone, and yes Jota coming back is a big boost and there is also Adam Idah, but it isn’t enough and Celtic need to look elsewhere for that out-and-out striker because Barry could have played that role.
