The 30-year-old was signed by Ange Postecoglou in 2021 and he has gone on to have enormous success in Scotland.

But there were suggestions that Atlanta United wanted to sign Kyogo – even with the MLS site writing a story on a deal being done.

That’s why Neil McCann thinks the rest of the teams in the league want the Japan star to ‘disappear’ and be sold.

But McCann has made it clear that Celtic have to try and ‘keep’ a player who has been ‘phenomenal’ for the club, as he told The Warm-Up.

“I think the rest of the league would love to see the wee man disappear somewhere,” said McCann. “From a Celtic point of view, I think they have got to try and keep him. I think he is that good.

“He is phenomenal, in terms of his movement, his impact on games, he brings a different dimension to Celtic and he is a completely different player to Adam Idah. Whether one of the signings they make in January will be a striker. I would imagine that one of them would be. They will try to get someone in. They have to keep hold of him. The league looks like it is secure. The Champions League is a big thing for Celtic right now. It will be for Brendan Rodgers right now.

“The body language thing, I don’t buy into, everybody will say that’s for something. Some sort of sign or a subconscious reaction. ‘Look, he doesn’t want to be here’. I have always found Hatate, Maeda and Kyogo, even the boy Yang when it isn’t working out, there is never a hint of a switching off or chucking the toys out of the pram. Just always on it. Always respectful. I don’t see any body language that is saying to me that he wants out of here.”

How many goals has Kyogo scored for Celtic?

Celtic fans have been blessed to witness four years of Kyogo, including winning the Treble under Postecoglou and he can repeat that under Rodgers this season.

In terms of goals, Kyogo is nearing a pretty incredible milestone and he might need to stay in Glasgow beyond this season to reach that.

Yes, there are plenty of games to be played this season and it could even be reached this term, but he is heading towards scoring 100 goals for Scotland’s greatest club.
