You are waiting for something to bubble regarding Celtic transfers this month.

Not much has happened, as the winter transfer window enters the halfway stage, but perhaps the drama will come during the final few weeks.

Brendan Rodgers isn’t in any sort of rush to get deals done because Celtic are flying high in the Premiership and heading towards another title.

But Celtic are expected to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League and that’s where the squad will be seriously tested.

So, in that sense, added quality will do the club and the manager the world of good this month, especially with the injuries out wide.

Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn have missed the last few matches, as well as James Forrest being sidelined, but in order for someone to come in, you are going to need a player heading for the exit door.

Luis Palma backed to leave Celtic

Kuhn has transformed in Celtic colours after his initial struggles when he joined the club last January, but the same can’t be said for Luis Palma.

Michael Stewart says he ‘called it a few months ago’ that Palma wouldn’t last and would eventually leave because it was ‘pretty apparent’ given how he was playing.

And now, Stewart has told Premier Sports, that it ‘suits everybody’ that Palma leaves this month because he just can’t cope playing for a club like Celtic.

“I think I called it a few months ago, to be perfectly honest with you,” shared Stewart about Palma possibly leaving Celtic. “It was pretty apparent. It was quite obvious.

“For Luis Palma, it probably just suits everybody that he moves on and gets more game time elsewhere. Probably goes to a style of football that is more suited to him because, by all accounts, at Aris Thessaloniki, he was a standout and did really, really well.

“But it hasn’t worked for him at Celtic. I get the impression and feeling that, sometimes, the club, not just Celtic in particular, but big clubs, sometimes, players just can’t handle that intensity and maybe he needs to go somewhere else. He is clearly got ability, but it’s not going to work at Celtic now.”

Palma can’t argue that Celtic haven’t been patient with him and Kuhn is an example that he could or should have improved.

But, he hasn’t taken that step forward, then add to the fact that his minutes have reduced, then it has killed his rhythm, confidence and flow.

That has resulted in his form going from bad to worse and it’s proven by the fact that he hasn’t scored or assisted this term.

And his overall record isn’t worth shouting about, either.
