Nicolas Kuhn’s exit from Celtic this summer was one that triggered a backlash from supporters.
Not because Kuhn was allowed to leave and join Como for £16.5 million, but the fact that Celtic struggled to instantly replace the winger, and some feel they still haven’t done that properly.
But whilst the Celtic fans continue to protest against the board, life is proving to be difficult for their former winger in Italy.
Como were promoted to Serie A in 2024, and their manager, Cesc Fabregas, has been heavily backed, with investors including his former Barcelona teammate, Thierry Henry.
The Lombardy-based club have made a strong start, sitting seventh in the table, four points behind third-placed AC Milan, but the same can’t be said for Kuhn.

Nicolas Kuhn’s struggles at Como after leaving Celtic
In the two big games Como have played this season, against Juventus and Napoli, Kuhn wasn’t used by Fabregas.
Either way, Tam McManus stated on social media that Celtic have got the better of the deal, and even went as far as to say they have pulled ‘Como’s pants down.’
| Kuhn’s games for Como | Starts | Off the bench | Unused substitute | Goals | Assists | Total minutes |
| 9 | 4 | 5 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 397 |
‘Celtic have had Como’s pants down with Nicholas Kuhn, haven’t they?’ wrote McManus on social media.
In the comments section of McManus’ post, he defended his claims after it was deemed ‘disrespectful’: ‘The point was Celtic got 16.5m + add-ons for him, brilliant deal for Celtic, s__t for Como, IMO.’
Kuhn’s opening few months at Celtic in numbers compared to Como
Don’t write off Kuhn just yet. Yes, it has been a difficult start for the winger, but he has been here before, as the Celtic fans know too well.
When the Hoops signed the German from Rapid Wien during the January transfer window of 2024, he struggled, and there were question marks over his performances.
| Kuhn’s first 18 games for Celtic | Goals | Assists |
| 3 | 2 |
But then, when he put his foot down, got some confidence in his legs, and started motoring forward, it all changed.
- Kuhn’s games for Celtic last season: 51
- Goals: 21
- Assists: 15
Perhaps that’s what Kuhn needs here, and in these coming months, Como fans will start to get the rewards for paying such a big transfer fee for the player.
