Your second Celtic transfer deadline day bulletin of the day. 67 Hail Hail deliver you updates on Luke McCowan, Andy Irving, Arne Engels, Auston Trusty, Mikey Johnston and Kyogo Furuhashi.

Celtic ‘submit bid’ for Luke McCowan

The Bhoys are ‘hopeful’ of completing a deal to sign Dundee star Luke McCowan before tonight’s transfer deadline at 11pm.

That’s according to BBC Sport Scotland, who are reporting that the Dens Park club have received an offer from Celtic today.

McCowan has been linked with Celtic over the last month or so but it was nothing more than speculation – until now.

It comes amid a fourth bid from Hibs for McCowan. The Easter Road side are desperate to land the 26-year-old star who already has nine goal contributions in eight games for Dundee this season.

Celtic ‘exploring’ Andy Irving deal

The Hoops are also said to be taking an interest in West Ham United midfielder Andy Irving over a possible loan deal, according to Sky Sports.

Former Hearts star Irving is a 24-year-old Scotsman who signed for the Hammers last summer. But he spent most of last season out on loan at SK Austria Klagenfurt where he scored 10 goals in 30 games.

Sky Sports say, however, that West Ham don’t want to part with Irving before the deadline so this one could be a difficult deal for Celtic to strike.

Brendan Rodgers on Arne Engels

Arne Engels has completed his Celtic medical ahead of a record-breaking £11m switch from Augsburg this evening, per Sky Sports.

And now it’s only a matter of time before the Belgian midfielder completes his move to the Scottish Premiership champions.

Manager Brendan Rodgers addressed the imminent arrival of Engels when speaking to Sky Sports this afternoon and had this to say: “What we want to keep doing is keep progressing.

“If we can sign someone who is a regular young player in the Bundesliga along with the other players we want to sign, that’s the support the team needs.

“The supporters will be really happy bringing in the level of players that we can. The team deserve good players to come in and challenge them.”

Rodgers also noted that Celtic’s deadline day signings could be involved in the Glasgow Derby against Rangers on Sunday.

The boss said: “Yeah, they could be, yeah. A number of the players we’ve been looking at have been playing and are up to speed.

“We always do an MOT on the players coming in just to see where they’re at anyway but most of the players we’re looking at will be in a good place.”

Auston Trusty to Celtic latest

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed earlier today that Auston Trusty was undergoing his Celtic medical ahead of a £6m move north.

Trusty’s switch to Parkhead has been agreed and Celtic fans are now just waiting on an official announcement with hours of the deadline left.

Wilder said: “I believe Trusty’s (undergoing a) medical and final bits to Celtic. I believe the Trusty one was last night going in this morning so that’ll be announced pretty quickly.”

Mikey Johnston speaks after leaving Celtic

Mikey Johnston completed his £3m move to West Bromwich Albion earlier today and told the EFL Championship club’s website how thrilled he was to return.

Johnston enjoyed a loan spell at West Brom last season, scoring seven goals in 20 appearances for the Midlands outfit.

He said after signing a four-year deal: “I’m really happy to be here. Driving down the M6 last night I couldn’t stop smiling and I’m buzzing to be here.

“From day one here I got off to a really good start, the fans took to me, and I took to them right away. I felt the love the full time I was here last year and I’m just buzzing to be back.”

Kyogo Furuhashi won’t sign for Man City

And lastly, in what is a relief to Celtic supporters across the globe, striker Kyog Furuhashi will be staying at Parkhead beyond the deadline.

Kyogo was linked with a sensational move to Manchester City but boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly said that he won’t be signing a back-up to Erling Haaland this summer.

As quoted by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Guardiola said: “Maybe it’s a mistake, I don’t know, but I like to work with not a long, long, long squad.

“I don’t like to leave a lot of players without playing for a long, long time”.
