Celtic to miss out on Isak Jansson
Rapid Wien winger Isak Jansson is set to sign for Nice after leaving the Austrian club’s pre-season training camp.
Celtic were interested in signing Jansson, but will now miss out.
A statement on Rapid’s official club website read: “In consultation with SK Rapid’s sporting management, Isak Jansson has left SK Rapid’s summer training camp in Freistadt, Upper Austria, early.
“The Swedish winger was given permission to leave for talks with a club abroad interested in signing him.
“This means that the 23-year-old Scandinavian will no longer be seen at the public training scheduled for this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in Freistadt.”
Lennon Miller to Celtic ‘very shortly’?
Gordon Dalziel wouldn’t be surprised if Celtic make a move to sign Lennon Miller from Motherwell very soon.
He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: “If I were Motherwell, I would be wanting more than that (£4.5 million). But, at the end of the day, it just depends on what Celtic were prepared to offer, and what Motherwell are prepared to accept.
“Is Lennon Miller looking to stay in Scottish football? That’s a big question as well – he may just have his eyes open with that.
“Or, he just looks at Celtic and thinks, ‘what a fantastic challenge it is to go and work under a coach with the ability of Brendan Rodgers.’ And, of course, being at a club the size of Celtic.
“I am sure Celtic will probably have a lot of targets lined up, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you would see this moving very, very shortly.
“I think they need a couple of, for me, to please the Celtic fans. A couple of big names just to take it forward and give them that excitement.”
Celtic fans react to Gustaf Lagerbielke exit
Many Celtic fans are not exactly pleased that Gustaf Lagerbielke has been sold to Portuguese top-flight outfit Braga for around £2m.
They generally argue Lagerbielke was a stronger option than Liam Scales and Stephen Welsh, who remain at the Parkhead club.
One fan said: “Don’t worry bhoys we’ve still got scales and Welsh.”
Another posted: “Him and Nawrocki are away, but you’ve left us with the likes of Welsh? Aye, very good.”
Matt O’Riley transfer latest
French journalist Sebastien Vidal claims transfer negotiations between Brighton and Roma for Matt O’Riley are ‘intensifying’.
But The Athletic are reporting that Brighton are not actively looking to sell. However, they would be prepared to entertain suitable offers if lodged.
Napoli made a £25.6m transfer bid for the former Celtic midfielder a couple of weeks ago.
