Augsburg boss on Arne Engels as Celtic bid £10m
Celtic’s offer for Augsburg star Arne Engels now stands at £10m according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.
It comes after a report stating Celtic were ready to bid £9m for Engels after an initial £6.5m offer was rejected by the Bundesliga side.
Amid the negotiations, Augsburg boss Jess Thorup believes midfielder Engels will be in his matchday squad for Sunday’s game against Heidenheim.
However, he did express doubt over what may happen between now and the end of the transfer window with Celtic pushing to sign the Belgium U21 star.
Thorup’s quotes – delivered by journalist Benjamin Hecker on X – were translated as follows: “I think he will be in our squad for next game (vs Heidenheim on Sunday). I heard about the rumours, I don‘t know what will happen in the last couple of days.”

Mateusz Bogusz latest amid Celtic bid
Polish attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz is set to be included in the LAFC matchday squad for the club’s US Cup clash away to Seattle Sounders.
That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim Bogusz was spotted in the state of Washington ahead of the game on Thursday morning at 3.30am.
Their reports adds that Bogusz was in training for LAFC but it remains to be seen for sure if he will be available for selection.
Bogusz is being targeted by Celtic with time ticking towards deadline day. The Hoops are said to have made a ‘formal bid’ for the player on Tuesday.
Alex Valle signs for Celtic on loan
And to round things up, Alex Valle has completed his season-long loan switch to Celtic from Spanish giants Barcelona.
The Hoops have been in desperate need of a left-back ever since the departure of Alexandro Bernabei to provide competition for Greg Taylor.
20-year-old La Masia graduate Valle has now been tasked with pushing Taylor this season for the left-back starting jersey.
Valle was on loan at Levante last season and made 29 Segunda Division appearances. He told Celtic’s club media: “I’m very excited, it’s a great opportunity to come to this historic club.
“They have given me a lot of confidence to come here, so I will try to do my best to return the confidence.
“I’ve heard a lot about the fans and and what we can experience in this stadium, so I’m just excited to see it in real life.”
