Celtic have been busy this summer, but they probably haven’t provided the excitement levels the supporters want.

Perhaps, with the new Premiership season on the horizon and Celtic’s opening game against St Mirren, things are now going to heat up in the 2025 summer transfer window.

There have been some interesting transfer links this summer, but in the last 24 hours, one has caught the eye more than most.

That’s because Celtic have been linked with Odsonne Edouard, and it has got many talking as to whether or not the Frenchman will make a comeback.

Celtic have been backed to sign Odsonne Edouard

Edouard left Celtic in 2021, and not on the best of terms, added to the fact that life has been difficult for the striker in the English Premier League.

But the fact of it remains that Edouard finds himself out of the picture at Crystal Palace, and Gordon Dalziel thinks Celtic would ‘welcome’ a deal for the player.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Dalziel stated that he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if the deal went through, as he also highlighted the likes of Jota and Kieran Tierney coming back recently.

“I think it would be a positive for a lot of Celtic fans,” said Dalziel. “He has gone down there after being a big success in Scotland, let’s not be kidded.

“He has gone down to England. Played in a top, top league against top centre-halves. For me, he has got to have improved. He’s 27. He’s at a good age. In fact, a really good age.

“It tells me it will be a case of financially. See if financially, if the deal could be done, I think Celtic would welcome that. I could be wrong. But I think they would welcome it. And I think a lot of Celtic fans would be very positive about it.

“I just look at him, at the right age, coming back to Celtic, he knows the club inside and out. You have seen it. Celtic have a habit of doing this.

“You look at Jota. Put him out for big money and brought him back. Tierney, out for big money and then brought him back. I wouldn’t be surprised if this went through.”

Edouard’s record in the Premier League

Crystal Palace won the FA Cup last season, the first major trophy in their history.

Whilst that was happening, Edouard was out on loan at Leicester City, where they were getting relegated, and he couldn’t even make the matchday squad.

It’s not a good look for the Frenchman, but in truth, ever since he took off those green and white colours, it has been a real struggle for the player.
