Brendan Rodgers was pretty confident with how Celtic’s January transfer window would go.
On the domestic scene, and in the Champions League, all is going well because the Treble is on and knockout football in Europe’s elite competition is back.
Even though Celtic have their work cut out to beat Bayern Munich, you still want to provide yourself with a fighting chance to win and one of the ways to do that is to boost the squad via the transfer market.
It has been a rather interesting January transfer window, with many interesting deals, including Kyogo Furuhashi leaving for Rennes and Alex Valle having his loan cut short.
Kieran Tierney will return to Celtic, but not until the summer, and whilst Jota also came back, he’s not the replacement for Kyogo.
Therefore, the supporters were correct to have some expectation and hope that deals were going to be concluded before Monday’s 11pm cut-off point.
As of writing this piece, anything can still happen, but Celtic’s latest post on social media, delivered on transfer deadline day, hasn’t gone down well with the fans.
Celtic promote Bayern Munich game on transfer deadline
Celtic host Bayern Munich in a mouthwatering Champions League showdown on February 12, with the return leg at the Allianz Arena.
Ahead of that match, the club was reminding season ticket holders that they had ’24 hours left’ to purchase their tickets and seats.
They added by saying that there is a ‘deadline’ that expires on Tuesday at 2pm.

’24hrs left for STH to purchase Celtic v Bayern Munich tickets,’ wrote the club on social media. ‘The deadline for Season Ticket holders to secure their seat is 2pm on Tuesday, February 4’.
Celtic fans make feelings clear on transfer deadline day
It’s fitting that the club are posting about ‘deadlines’ on such a day because many fans are unhappy with the transfer dealings.
Valle was allowed to go back to Barcelona – he has since joined FC Como on loan – and now that leaves Greg Taylor as the only starting left-back.
Yes, Jota came back, but not to replace Kyogo because that out-and-out striker hasn’t been brought in.
All of this was brought up by the supporters on social media and they are pretty unhappy with the business concluded so far, as the deadline looms.
‘Sign someone,’ wrote @MaedaMealOfThat
‘8 hours left to purchase at least 3 players,’ insisted @Goose1167.
There is only one thing on @erlsellick’s mind and it’s that much-needed goalscorer/left-back: ‘7 1/2 hours to get a left (back) and a striker in the door’.
The theme continued with, @Bowley67_: ‘8 and a half hours left to sign a LB and a ST! Get it done’.
Some fans are losing patience, as @bigdevineuk touched upon: ‘Even less than that for us to get our finger out in yet another shambolic transfer window’.
