A Lech Poznan club legend has urged his club to spend the money on signing Luis Palma from Celtic this summer.

Palma has impressed in Poland this season and is also of interest to Sevilla, depending on their La Liga status.

The Honduran hasn’t shut the door on returning to Celtic Park at the end of this season, but a Lech Poznan hero wants to see him stay.

Lech Poznan told to make Luis Palma deal permanent

Lech Poznan can sign Palma permanently as part of a clause in their loan deal, but it would require them to double their current record transfer fee of £2m.

However, Piotr Reiss has told the club that they should pay the money for the 26-year-old.

He told Football Lodge: “It’s worth buying him, though, because if he shows up in European competition, he might sell for more than four million.

“He’s a quality player. He makes a difference. As a defender, I’d be afraid to play against Palma. He plays a lot of one-on-one, he can do something. I’d buy him.

“The question is whether Lech’s management can afford such a transfer.”

Luis Palma frustrates Lech Poznan

Despite enjoying one of his best goalscoring seasons in professional football, the winger has still had moments where he has left sections of the Poznan crowd scratching their heads, with Reiss adding that he still has a lot to learn.

“He’s a bit frustrating sometimes, though, because he has extraordinary skills, he can play football, but sometimes he ignores certain situations”, said Reiss.

As Poznan close in on the Ekstraklasa league title, Palma has been on the bench for the last few games but is hoping to force his way back into the side.
