Celtic are deep in the midst of their own transfer endeavours as Brendan Rodgers looks to acquire some late signings before the deadline tomorrow night.

Nicolas Kuhn has become the marquee addition of the month after joining from Rapid Vienna for a fee in the region of £3 million.

The 24-year-old is likely to be joined by Norwich City forward Adam Idah, who is reportedly close to completing a loan move to Parkhead for the rest of the campaign.

Rodgers is also keen to bring in a left-back ahead of the market closing for business and is surveying options south of the border which he could aim to bring in as cover for the injured Greg Taylor.

Nevertheless, Estoril’s Tiago Araujo or Brondby’s Mathias Kvistgaarden will not be travelling to Glasgow any time soon after Football Scotland reporter Mark Hendry confirmed the pair are out of bounds.

In truth, the mid-season window has been a difficult period for clubs around Europe to conduct efficient business; however, this shouldn’t be peddled as an excuse if Celtic fail to recruit adequately in key areas.

Former Celtic icon Jota sees West Ham United move collapse

Without a doubt, former Celtic icon Jota is sorely missed around these parts since he completed a £25 million move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad at the beginning of 2023/24.

In the last few days, reports emerged claiming that the Portuguese winger could be set for a quickfire loan switch to West Ham United, where he could link up with another ex-Celt in Scottish boss David Moyes and experience Premier League football.

Despite this, one outlet in Saudi Arabia cited via The Scottish Sun now claim that several obstacles have ended any hopes of an agreement being reached, and Jota is now set to stay at his current employers after being included in their latest league squad.

Jota would’ve needed to pay a sizeable amount of tax to HMRC in the event of any return to the United Kingdom, which has obliterated his hopes of moving to the London Stadium before the window closes.

Jota continues to be missed by Celtic

In his time at Celtic, Jota notched an impressive 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 appearances across all competitions, becoming an iconic figure among the Parkhead faithful [Transfermarkt].

This hasn’t translated to his spell in the Middle East, which has yielded just two strikes in 11 outings amid frustrations at initially being left out of Marcelo Gallardo’s squad.

Now, it seems as if the former Benfica man has a second chance to impress despite a troubling start to his career at the Jeddah-based outfit.
