Hyunjun Yang’s future has been one of the storylines of the day for Celtic.

While there were hopes that it would be a day of incomings, it’s exits that have taken priority at Celtic Park.

Academy prospect Stephen Welsh is close to joining Motherwell and Yang has been waiting for the green light to join Birmingham City.

Belgian outfit Gent have also emerged as a late contender to sign the South Korea international, where there is a catch.

Gent may make late swoop for Hyunjun Yang

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph revealed that Gent are ‘closely monitoring’ the situation between Birmingham and Yang ahead of a potential £3m bid.

Birmingham only have a limited amount of time to complete the deal, however, the Belgian transfer window is still open until 8 September, giving Gent a slight advantage.

No bid has been launched by Gent so far and the 23-year-old is still waiting to hear what his next steps will be.

Brendan Rodgers won’t let Yang leave easily

Rodgers has already confirmed that Yang won’t leave unless the Hoops can find a replacement.

A third bid for Sebastian Tounekti has also gone in but there is no update on whether it’s been accepted or not.

If Tounekti joined, that would more than likely soften Celtic’s stance on keeping Yang and even sanction a transfer for him to leave.
