‘He has a future’ – Celtic told player who has left Brendan Rodgers will be ‘loved’ by his new fans

Eight men have left Celtic so far this summer.

In some cases, there is probably an element of surprise, such as Nicolas Kuhn joining Como after signing for Celtic during the January transfer window of 2024.

That’s Celtic’s biggest sale of the summer so far, with the Hoops fetching a tad over £16 million for his attacking talents.

But Kuhn hasn’t been the only attacking player to depart Brendan Rodgers’ squad, as Daniel Cummings also left Celtic and joined West Ham United in the English Premier League.

West Ham United fans will ‘love’ Daniel Cummings after Celtic exit

There are a fair few names that have represented both Celtic and West Ham during their careers, as Cummings will be hoping to add his name to that list.

Frank McAvennie is perhaps one of the biggest names, and he thinks the West Ham fans are going to ‘love’ Cummings.

Speaking on his Let Me Be Frank Podcast, McAvennie thinks Cummings, who turned 19 in April, has a ‘future down there’.

“The boy Cummings, as I say, I think he has got a future down there,” said McAvennie. “He will do well. I think the fans will love him.”

Cummings’ chances at West Ham after a lack of patience at Celtic?

What’s interesting is that Cummings will start at the U21 level and isn’t going to be a part of Graham Potter’s pre-season squad, despite wanting to play more under Rodgers.

After Cummings made his Celtic debut – and only appearance – against Aston Villa in the Champions League in January, he never featured again, and Rodgers fired some subtle digs at the striker.

It was based around the youngster’s lack of patience, and you sense he is going to need it at the London Stadium because he isn’t being thrust straight into the senior set-up.

Cummings told West Ham’s website: “I want to be successful and, of course, the aim is to be a first-team player for West Ham. I want to keep pushing, and hopefully I can do well and eventually get that first-team opportunity.”
