Much has been made of Celtic’s abject transfer business across both the recent summer and January windows.
While a lot of the noise is centred around Celtic’s inability to bring in the required calibre of player, it is also worth examining the fortunes of those who actually left Parkhead.
In certain cases, departures were entirely expected, like those of Jeffrey Schlupp and Greg Taylor. While others, such as Adam Idah’s exit, came during the final days of the 2025 summer transfer window.
67 Hail Hail has taken a look at how each of them performed during the recently concluded season.
What would be your one message to Martin O’Neill about Celtic’s upcoming transfer window?
Scott Bain, permanent move to Falkirk
Celtic’s back-up goalkeeper joined newly promoted Falkirk and helped them secure a top six finish in the Premiership table.
It proved to be a successful move for Scott Bain.
| Bain’s Premiership games | Goals conceded | Clean sheets | Goals prevented |

Daniel Cummings, pre-contract agreement with West Ham
After one senior appearance under Brendan Rodgers, Daniel Cummings decided to see out his contract and sign a pre-contract agreement with West Ham United.
Cummings went straight into the U21s, didn’t play until November because of injury, and finished the campaign with the youth team, as the senior side suffered relegation to the Championship.
Greg Taylor, free transfer to PAOK
For months and months, Rodgers tried to urge Greg Taylor to stay at Celtic, but he had made up his mind, given his mixed relationship with the supporters.
Taylor moved to Greece and joined PAOK, who ended the campaign third, just like they did the previous season.
It was a season of deep frustration for the left-back. During the Greek equivalent of the post-split fixtures, he was left languishing on the bench while PAOK managed just one win in six matches.

Maik Nawrocki, loan deal to Hannover 96
Another player who lacked regular minutes at Celtic, Maik Nawrocki, moved to Germany’s second tier and joined Hannover 96 on a season-long loan deal.
It took until October for Nawrocki to earn his chance, and when he did, the hard-hitting defender impressed, playing in a back three, including scoring three goals in 17 matches.
Injuries were an issue for the 25-year-old, but from a selfish point of view, it was a successful spell, despite Hannover 96 missing out on promotion to the Bundesliga.

Gustaf Lagerbielke, £2.2m transfer to Braga
Gustaf Lagerbielke played at Celtic Park in October, but in the colours of Braga, securing a 2-0 win in the Europa League.
It was an impressive display from the centre-back, who, just like Nawrocki, couldn’t get going in Glasgow, but has now found a home in Portugal.
Lagerbielke reached the semi-finals of the Europa League, losing to the beaten finalists SC Freiburg, but it has proven to be a successful £2.2 million transfer for the player.
Nicolas Kuhn, permanent transfer to Como
This one hasn’t worked out at all.
Celtic’s biggest sale last summer was Nicolas Kuhn joining Como in Serie A for £16.5 million.
Despite Cesc Fabregas’s side securing Champions League qualification ahead of the giants of Juventus and AC Milan, Kuhn had to watch most of it from the bench.
The all-action winger managed just one goal during a highly frustrating season.
After making only two starts in 2026, his season fizzled out entirely as he failed to get off the bench in any of the last four league games.
A very tough move for Nicolas Kuhn… where do you stand on bringing him back in the summer?
Luis Palma, a season-long loan deal to Lech Poznan
A title winner! As many would have seen recently, Luis Palma has completed a permanent transfer to Lech Poznan.
This comes after the Honduran star helped the Polish side win the title during his loan spell. This one was certainly a success.
| League games | Goals | Assists |

Kwon Hyeok-kyu, transfer to Nantes
A double move for Kwon Hyeok-kyu.
The defensive midfielder left Celtic and joined Nantes in Ligue 1 last summer, but it didn’t work out for him in France, and he was quickly shipped out to Germany’s second tier in the winter, where he joined Karlsruher SC.
Jeffrey Schlupp, end of contract
The versatile defender only joined Celtic for six months, starting away at Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Celtic opted against offering Jeffrey Schlupp a new contract, and he joined Norwich City in the Championship.
After only nine league games, mainly because of a long-term injury, Schlupp wasn’t offered a new deal at Carrow Road after the expiry of his contract.
Marco Tilio, transfer to Rapid Wien
Marco Tilio joined Rapid Wien after the winger failed to even lay a glove on his Celtic career. It was expected and needed for all parties.
But just like Taylor and Kuhn, it has been a struggle for the Australian, who only played 585 minutes across the campaign, scoring only one goal.
Adam Idah, £6m transfer to Swansea City
Perhaps this was a player Celtic shouldn’t have sold?
Adam Idah’s move to Swansea City came mere days after the debacle of Celtic’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Ultimately, his time in Wales proved to be a mixed bag; a frustrating injury lay-off from December to March certainly didn’t help, nor did the reality of playing second fiddle to Žan Vipotnik, the Championship’s outright top scorer.
Either way, Idah still managed to bag six goals from 828 league minutes, including in the derby against Wrexham.
Would you take Adam Idah back at Celtic?
Stephen Welsh, season-long loan to Motherwell
Stephen Welsh’s loan spell was more well-documented because it was at Motherwell.
Not only did Welsh help Celtic to the title by scoring against Rangers, and then beating them during the post-split fixtures.
But he was also a regular starter for a team many thought played the best football in the country during the 2025/26 campaign.
Now it has been reported that Welsh has left Celtic, one year early from his contract, and is expected to join Idah at Swansea.
