Celtic are seemingly hot on the trail of Man City youngster Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.

We told yesterday how Celtic were linked with Simpson-Pusey as Brendan Rodgers seemingly looks to bolster his backline.

The youngster has appeared just six times in the Man City first-team and the move for Simpson-Pusey has confused Celtic fans.

However, it seems that the speculation has now taken a massive jump forward as Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reveals Celtic and Man City have now entered discussions for the young defender.

Celtic are now ‘in talks’ to sign Jahmai Simpson-Pusey as loan details emerge

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has shared how Celtic are now ‘discussing terms’ to take Simpson-Pusey from Man City on loan this season.

Taking to X Joseph said, “Celtic are in talks to sign Manchester City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.

“It’s understood the clubs are discussing terms on a season-long loan deal for the 19-year-old.

“A number of clubs in England are also keen on the player – with Man City only entertaining loan offers.”

So it appears that there may not be an option to buy the youngster at the end of the loan which will disappoint many Celtic supporters.

Why develop another club’s young player when Celtic have a more than adequate back-up in Dane Murray already at the club?

Why Dane Murray should be Celtic’s back-up defender

Young Dane Murray impressed Celtic supporters with some fine pre-season displays for Celtic this summer.

More notably, in Celtic’s win over Sporting CP, Murray looked calm, assured and strong in the tackle as he helped to beat the Portuguese league and cup double-winners on their own turf.

If the deal to bring Simpson-Pusey to Celtic does get finalised, what message does that send to the youngsters at the Celtic Academy about not just progressing at the club but making a first-team breakthrough.
